John has been teaching middle school and coaching high school sports since 2005. He is now teaching 8th-grade U.S. History and coaching Varsity football.
He served for 20 years in the Michigan Army National Guard with combat deployments to Iraq as a Platoon Leader, and Afghanistan as a Company Commander. He has also served on Battalion and Division staff. He is currently serving in the U.S. Army Reserves as an instructor for the Command and General Staff College. In 2023 John was named the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Instructor of the Year.
